Testing that Reaches the World

Structural & Load Testing

Structural & Load Testing equipment for mechanical fatigue analysisClark Testing provides expert Structural & Load Testing services to evaluate the durability, safety, and performance of components and assemblies under real-world stress conditions. Our capabilities include fatigue testing, mechanical load analysis, and custom test setups tailored to meet a wide range of industry standards.

We provide comprehensive structural testing services for steel and composite components, ensuring they meet industry, regulatory and safety standards. With load testing capacities up to 2,000,000lbs or 8,890kN of force, our testing protocols evaluate strength, stability, and structural integrity under various load conditions.
The Clark Structures lab with its 90’L X 30’W structural mass provides fatigue testing to help predict how long components will last under cyclic loading conditions. Our fatigue analysis identifies failure points and helps to optimize design for longevity.

  • High-cycle and low-cycle fatigue testing
  • Fully reversed bending and axial loading conditions
  • Crack propagation monitoring and life prediction
  • Custom test setups to simulate real-world operational environments
  • Compliance with international standards such as ASTM, ISO, and EN

Load Testing of Products and Industrial Components

We conduct static and dynamic load testing to verify the load-bearing capabilities of components. This ensures safety, reliability, and compliance before market deployment or regulatory approval.

  • Static, dynamic, and impact load testing
  • Beam fatigue of structural components
  • Load-displacement and stress-strain analysis
  • Proof load and ultimate load testing
  • Custom jigs and fixtures for large or irregularly shaped component

Testing Services

ROPS / FOPS

Clark’s structural laboratory provides ROPS, FOPS & TOPS testing services in accordance with SAE J/ISO 3471 to qualify structures and cabs typically installed on almost any type of operator driven or stationary machinery. These ROPS, FOPS, & TOPS tests insure the protection and safety of operators from a rollover (ROPS), tip over (TOPS) and a falling object (FOPS). Clark Testing has facilities and capabilities to perform destructive testing of large off-road equipment requiring extreme loads up to 1 million pounds.

Torque & Torsional Fatigue

The torque testing capabilities of Clark Testing’s torsional fatigue lab qualify it as one of the most comprehensive torsional/torque test laboratories in the world. The lab is anchored by our Tinius Olsen Torsional Load Frame. This machine has unique capabilities of 600,000 inch/lbs. of torque with unlimited rotation.  Our torsional fatigue lab also includes torque testing capabilities up to 200,000 lbs. ft. on a test specimen of 90’ in length, Clark is able to recreate the impact forces seen on most rotating apparatus. We conduct torque testing with variable rotary fatigue capabilities on motor shafts, prop shafts, rods, pipe & tubes for assessment of ultimate strength on rotating components. Clark’s rotary test systems can induce torque on test specimens with multiple diameters and lengths.

Anchors, Tie-Downs, Fasteners, Screws & Bolts

At Clark Testing’s structures lab, we provide precision testing for critical connections including mechanical fasteners such as anchors, tie-downs, screws, bolts, and other critical hardware components. Clark’s lab provides structural load and fatigue test services for construction, infrastructure, and industrial applications ensuring components perform under field operating conditions while meeting industry standards and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.

Fatigue Load

Clark’s structural laboratory provides fatigue load testing. Fatigue Load Testing is the cyclic application of force onto a part or assembly under various load, frequency, and environmental conditions to understand the lifespan of the part. This can be helpful during the development of a new part for it to be approved for use, or in periodic QA checks of production parts. Fatigue load testing often ends when the part cracks, cannot meet the performance requirements, or completely breaks. One of the main goals of fatigue testing is the development of an S-N curve to be able to statistically predict the performance of a part under various stress levels.

Proof Load

Clark’s structural laboratory provides proof load tesitng.A proof load test is a type of non-destructive test where the component is loaded to a determined load and held there in order to verify that the component can withstand the load. The load requirement is usually two to six times the normal operating load, and the failure criteria usually include cracking or deformation of the part.

Proof testing can verify the maximum load safety factor is being met and help meet other quality and safety specifications.

Stay Cable, Strand, Threaded Rod & Wire Rope

Clark Testing’s structural lab provides specialized testing services for high tension elements and fixtures including stay cables, post-tensioning strands, threaded rods, and wire ropes used in critical infrastructure, marine, transportation, construction, mining and structural applications. Clark’s structures lab can apply loads up to 2,000,000 lbs. or 8896 kN.

Ultimate Load

Clark’s structural laboratory provides Ultimate load testing. An ultimate load test is a type of destructive test where the component is loaded until failure. An ultimate test can help determine the load at which a component will start to deform plastically or irreversibly. This information is particularly useful for engineers in designing parts and choosing materials. This testing can also help refine and validate FEA models and find flaws in manufacturing processes. Ultimate testing can determine the maximum load safety factor is being met and help meet other quality and safety specifications
