Testing that Reaches the World

Vibration Testing

Clark Testing has the experience and capabilities necessary to assist you with your new and current product development. While many laboratories have the ability to identify your problem, we have the talent and experience to formulate realistic solutions that can be implemented within the confines of your budget and current product development schedule. For answers to your noise and vibration problems, give us a call.

Vibration Testing is performed to examine a product's response to a defined vibration environment. Testing can measure "Fatigue Life", "Resonant Frequencies", or "Mechanical Shock". The most common type of Vibration Tests are Sinusoidal or Random. vibration-featured

Spectral Dynamics shaker Vibration testing requires hydraulic or electrodynamic shakers along with environmental aging equipment to make the ideal fit for your vibration testing & validation needs. Environmental aging and field simulation are critical in helping manufacturers design and build equipment that will withstand the rigors of real-world conditions.  Our vibration test equipment can meet force requirements from 10lbs up to 30,000 lbs. along with a wide frequency range from 1Hz to 2,000Hz to simulate those conditions.

Standard and custom Vibration Profiles are used to satisfy numerous industrial standards and environmental profiles:

  • Sinusoidal
    • Sine tests are performed to explore the response at one frequency resonant frequencies. The analysis of resonant frequencies can inform further design and testing of products.
  • Random
    • Random Vibration tests expose all frequencies within a defined test spectra and are generally considered to replicate a real world environment.
  • Sine-on Random
  • RIM Required Input Motion
  • SRS Shock Response Spectrum
  • Triaxial Seismic Spectrums
  • Classic Shock Pulses
  • Combined Temperature and Vibration systems

Vibration test conditions simulate wind, sea, rail, helicopter rotor, space, aerospace, shock & shock impulse, transportation, engine vibration and pipe vibration.

Common Vibration Testing Standards Include:

  • ASTM D999-01 – Standard Test Methods for Vibration Testing of Shipping Containers
  • ASTM D3580 – 95 (2010) Standard Test Methods for Vibration (Vertical Linear Motion) Test of Products
