Testing that Reaches the World

Stay Cable, Strand, Threaded Rod and Wire Rope

Clark Testing’s structural lab provides specialized testing services for high tension elements and fixtures including stay cables, post-tensioning strands, threaded rods, and wire ropes used in critical infrastructure, marine, transportation, construction, mining and structural applications. Clark’s structures lab can apply loads up to 2,000,000 lbs. or 8896 kN.

We offer performance testing for a wide variety of tension elements used in construction and engineering:

  • Stay Cables (Bridge, Structural & Marine Applications)
  • Post-Tensioning & Pre-Stressing Strands
  • High-Strength Threaded Rods (ASTM A193, A354, etc.)
  • Wire Ropes (Galvanized, Stainless, Coated)
  • Custom Cable Assemblies & Connectors

Clark’s structures lab can simulate real-world load and fatigue to verify the structural integrity, durability, and safety of tension members. Our services include:

  • Tensile Strength Testing – Full-range axial tension up to failure or design load
  • Fatigue Testing – Repeated load cycling to simulate long-term performance
  • Elongation & Ductility Measurement – Evaluation of strain under load
  • Proof Load Testing – Load verification for installed systems
  • Wedge & Anchor Slippage Testing – Monitoring for movement or failure in anchor zones
  • Corrosion & Environmental Testing – Performance under salt spray, humidity, and temperature fluctuations

Compliance & Standards

We to a wide range of industry standards and guidelines.  We also provide engineering and FEA cross validation.

  • ASTM A 931 & ISO 3108
  • ASTM A416 / A586 / A603
  • PTI and fib Cordage Institute (CI) Guidelines
  • ISO Standards for Wire Rope & Cable Testing

Applications We Support

  • Cable-Stayed & Suspension Bridges
  • Marine & Transportation
  • Precast and Post-Tensioned Concrete Structures
  • Heavy Crane Lifting & Rigging
  • Temporary & Permanent Bracing

Our comprehensive testing services validate the performance and safety of tension elements like stay cables and wire ropes, ensuring they meet industry standards and project requirements.
